Yesus Meninggalkan Temple

Jesus stands at the entrance of the Jerusalem temple with Mary and Joseph, stepping out from the columned courts after being found among the teachers. The young Christ is shown at the center, calm and attentive, while His parents remain close beside Him after their anxious search during the Passover visit. The temple architecture, stone steps, and travel bags point to the family’s departure from Jerusalem and their return toward Nazareth.

The scene reflects Luke 2:41-52, where the twelve-year-old Jesus reveals His unique sonship by saying He must be in His Father’s house. Yet He also goes down with His parents and remains subject to them, increasing “in wisdom and in stature and in favor with God and man.” This artwork is well suited for teaching on the childhood of Jesus, obedience, Passover pilgrimage, family discipleship, and Christ’s early awareness of His divine mission.
